Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is an American-Mexican sportscaster. She anchors SportsNation and serves as a SportsCenter anchor. She joined ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. The daughter of TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is a bilingual woman and has been so since when she was nine years old. The ability to speak two languages helped her to get her first job with Univision, Miami. She worked as a producer for national programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Then, her CBS affiliate in St. Petersburg employed her as a sport reporter. In 2009, she relocated to Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist at KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Covering stories on immigration and drug-trafficking on both sides of the border, she served as a reporter on the 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a anchor, reporter and later anchor for news at 9 p.m. newscast in English as well as an anchor for the 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. The station also frequently asked her to serve as anchors for the weather and sports. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallasthe affiliate of Univision Dallas, and she is more responsible. She wrote for the NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. Aside from this, she also hosted and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She was appointed as the anchor for sports by Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. As a sports anchor she also worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta Collins' parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. She was born November 22, 1985, in Mexico City. There is an older sister. The family moved to Miami after relocating to Mexico in the US. Her parents divorced soon after and, in 1995, she was married a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 of kidney cancer. She stayed with her family in Canton Ohio with her older sister over the summer in which she was given a job. Antonietta was the senior of her high school however, she had a very clear vision of her goals for the future. She visited Mount Union University to determine if they suited her. Then, she fell in love with the campus. The university offered her the opportunity to study a major. After graduation, she enrolled at the university with a major in media studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the WRMU's 91.1FM station where she worked over the years, became a friend. Her professor Mark Bergmann inspired her with his enthusiasm for journalism. Also, he deeply affected her.
